He earned a BA in Economics and Business at Furman University while playing in the Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Wind Ensemble. He is also a member of the SUMC Chancel Choir.

Euphonium – Chris earned BS in Biology with a minor in music from Presbyterian College, and is an Environmental Analyst with Davis & Floyd in Greenwood. He plays with many groups in the upstate, including the Taylors First Baptist Church Orchestra, Anderson Symphony Orchestra, Greenville Concert Band, Orange Jam Big Band, Pat Throneburg Big Band, Foothills Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Electric City Swing Band.

Larry Eckart

Euphonium – Larry is employed by Michelin, Inc. as a Test Driver for their On-Vehicle Tire Evaluation program, and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Akron, where he played in both the marching and concert bands. His father, who teaches music and band, provided Larry with his musical training. Larry is a member of the SUMC Bell Choir, and the Chancel Choir.

Bass Trombone – Steve is the Eastern Regional Sales Manager for Bekaert Wire and Cable, and holds a BS in Business Administration/Marketing from USC. He has been playing since the 5th grade, and was a member of the USC Marching Gamecocks. He is a founder of the Quintessential Brass of Columbia.

Piano – Patty is a General Music and Chorus teacher at Dacusville Elementary in Pickens County. She holds a BA in Music Education and Piano Performance from Columbia College, and a MA in Music Education from Furman University. She has studied with Dr. David Gibson of Furman, and Ruby Morgan and Robyn Gibson of Columbia College. She has performed with the Columbia College Choir, and is a member of the Pendleton Street Baptist Choir and the PSBC Handbell Choir.

Tuba – Terry is President of Southern Measurement Company in Simpsonville. He holds a BS in Biology/Chemistry from the University of Alabama. He started playing in Junior High and High School. After a 33 year ‘rest’, he began playing again about seven years ago. He says, “Playing a tuba is just like riding a bike, and I can’t ride very well either.”

Trumpet/Piccolo Trumpet/Flugelhorn – A Pediatrician with the Christie Pediatric Group, Stephen earned a BS in Biology at Furman University, and his MD from the Medical University of South Carolina. He played with the Furman Jazz ensemble, and several other bands.

Josh Russell

Trumpet/Flugelhorn – Josh is a freshman political science major at Furman University where he studies trumpet under Dr. Gary Malvern. Josh participates in a number of musical ensembles including the orchestra, the wind ensemble, and the orchestra. Josh is also a member of Furman’s mock trial team and the Wesley Fellowship.

Berley Stabler

Trumpet/Flugelhorn – Berley is a Systems Integrator with A/V Innovations in Greenville, and holds a BA in Sociology/Psychology from USC. He was a band member during Junior High and High School, and continues his training today. Over the years, Berley has been a member of numerous musical groups, including Jubal’s Brass, the Lander College Concert Band, and the Anderson Community Band and Symphony Orchestra. Berley is a member of the SUMC Bell Choir, and the Chancel Choir. He says, “One of my greatest joys comes from playing the music of our Risen Savior.”
